Reduce home toxins: Replace candles with essential oils

Our environment is not as clean as it should be.

What can you do about it?

Replace candles with essential oils

Start by getting rid of your candles. Regular candles are releasing toxic petroleum into the air. Yes the same petroleum that you put in your car. That beautiful fragrance is produced in a lab chemically. Don’t be mad at me. My name could have been Yankee, if you know what I mean. Soy is safer. What is even more safe is diffusing essential oil.

Oils are produced by either cold pressed or steam distilled.  When purchasing oils it is important to be sure the company you are buying from produces pure oils. Don’t be led astray by “All Natural” and “Pure.” The FDA does not regulate these products so what you read may not be what you get.

I enjoy using my diffuser with several different essential oils fragrances from Young Living.  My favorite is lavender. It can help with relaxation as well as sleep.

Another simple change is using essential oil in DIY cleaning products.  You can find all kinds of recipes for cleaning on line. I love my lemon bathroom spray that is non toxic to inhale.

  • 1- 2 oz glass spray bottle
  • 1/2 tsp  Epsom salts
  • 20 drops Lemon essential oil
  • Filtered water to fill bottle
